Bank one is the same side as cylinder number one. Sensor one is upstream or before the catalytic converter.
There is an upstream and downstream O2 sensor (bank1 and bank2). Upstream is located close to the engine bay in FRONT of the cat converter, and 2 is located behind the converter.
Bank 1 Sensor 1 is the upstream. Its on The Header where they all meet. it may not bwe the problem though seeing as i have the same code and just changed my o2 sensor and the code came back. there are upstream and down stream sensor.bank 1 is driver side location of the exaust manifold bank 2 is passanger.sensor 1 is before the catalityc converter and sensor 2 is after. And just to for-warn you a new sensor is about 80 bucks
Bank 1 sensor 1 is upstream bank 1 sensor 2 is downstream
bank 1 is upstream bank2 is downstream sensor1 is on cylinder1 side upstream sensor 2 is the other side usually passinger side, bank 2 refers to sensor after converter
On a 1997 Ford Ranger ( 4.0 liter V6 engine ) Bank 1 is the passenger side of the engine Sensor 1 ( which is the upstream sensor ) would be close to the engine ( it might even be in the outlet of the exhaust manifold ) before the exhaust enters the catalytic converter
If the Trooper has the 3.5L v6, there are 4 SO2 sensors. There are two banks right and left, or bank 1 and bank 2 respectively. Then there is a sensor upstream from the catalytic converter on each bank (sensor 1) , and one down stream (sensor 2).Hope this helps/
bank 2 is the drivers side of the engine on your Ford Expedition sensor 1 is in the exhaust upstream ( before the exhaust enters the catalytic converter )
Sensor 1 would be UPSTREAM before the exhaust enters the catalytic converter
They should be in the exhaust system close to the engine ( either in the exhaust manifold outlets or the exhaust pipe ) before the exhaust enters the catalytic converters Bank 1 is the passenger side of the engine and sensor 1 is the upstream sensor Bank 2 is the driver side of the engine and sensor 1 is the upstream sensor on that side
Left and right are determined from sitting in the driver seat.
Bank 1 is the side that cylinder 1 is on, sensor 1 is downstream and sensor 2 is upstream
