Actually this is a misconception. Madinah is the place where the Prophet Mohammed (Salla Allahu Alaihi WA sallam) lived for a period of 10 years: from the age of approximately 53 up to his death at the age of 63.
While his Mother Aminah was truly from Madinah; he was born, in Mecca (also a city in Saudi Arabia) where he lived and was raised and received the initial part of the revelations of Islam at the age of 40 - as most narrations state.
