This is like comparing apples & Oranges. I personally have used both and I own a Chi iron. The Chi is much, much hotter than the InStyler so you have to be very careful to not burn your hair (or anything else) with it. The Instyler works pretty good, but if you aren't careful with the direction of the roller, you can tangle your hair into a bird's nest. I think the InStyler is better for styling than the Chi. The Chi is for straightening, the InStyler is more for styling. Both are good products, you just need to decide what your goal is.

If you are looking for a good-working, reasonably priced straightener, then I would get a Conair. I have the Conair Infinity. It is hot pink and heats up in 20 seconds to over 400 degrees. It works amazingly, probably as good as a CHI or the Instyler, and it is cheaper. I got mine at Kohls for only $32.99, which is acceptable compared to CHIs and the InStyler. It was originally $42.99 but i got a discount on it. It works great and my hair is perfectly smooth and straight.

You should really look into buying a Sedu flat iron. I personally think it's better. I've used Chi flat irons before and just left my hair rather dry, and my Sedu actually makes my hair shiny and just all around it's a good straightener.
