Is the game Digimon Dawn for the DS a good game and is it anything like the Pokemon games?

I have Digimon Dusk and I absolutely love it. It is kind of similar to the Pokemon games, but there are quests instead of badges and you can fight in a competition thing to increase your rank. There are also Digifarms, which are like the PC boxes, but you can train specific stats. I would recommend it to anyone.

If you are asking about a 'Digimon Modifier' for the new Digimon Dawn/Dusk games, then no. Currently, there doesn't exist such a program, nor do I think there ever will due to Digimon's overshadowing by Pokemon. However, on the plus side, Digimon are typically easier to raise.

The programming used in Story/World DS is likely different that its sequels. As a result, World DS can only trade with other World DS games, and Dawn/Dusk can only trade with Dawn/Dusk. Unlike Pokemon games though, you can't even trade between Digimon games of other languages.

A game like pokemon besides spectrobes, I would say one of the Digimon games, if you like battles. Digimon was next to Pokemon through it all so i suggest it. Digimon Dusk and Dawn should be out or soon will be, for the DS.
