It depends what you define as easy, i changed one in a 1994 Chevy van and it was a pain in the ***. I don't know about Ford but in the one i changed it had to come out from under the dash then I had to take the plastic casing off and it came right out. If you don't need the heater i would just by pass the heater core. All you have to do it take the hoses off the heater core and connect them together. That's way easier then replacing it.
hope this helps.
To change the heater core in a 87 ford f150 is easy. Just remove the glove box and then behind it there is 7 bolts. After you remove the 7 bolts then just remove the cover and behind it is the heater core. By far the easiest heater core I ever changed.
It is never easy to replace the heater core on any vehicle. The problem is getting to the core. That is why this is a very expensive repair. It is a labor intensive job.It is never easy to replace the heater core on any vehicle. The problem is getting to the core. That is why this is a very expensive repair. It is a labor intensive job.
Remove the glove box and you'll have access to the heater core, still not easy.
you have to take the dash easyout to get to the heater core box . Its a two man job and is not easy.
Check the coolant level...if the level is too low, it will not flow through the heater core. Next, check the thermostat. If it is sticking, it will not let the coolant heat up. These are inexpensive, and easy to change by the owner. If none of these work, have the heater core checked by a mechanic. An obstruction in the core, or the heater hoses, will keep coolant from flowing through the core, thus not heating the air.
no no
It is never easy to replace a heater core. Replace it is easy, but getting access to it is never easy. But your Jeep Wrangler is one of the easier ones to replace. Just remove enough of the dash parts to gain access to the core. Be careful and remember where and how everything goes back together. Photos taken during the process with digital camera might help you remember.
On all Dodge, Plymouth and Chrysler products there are no easy ways to do this since the heater core is inside the a/c box, they are all dash pulls...........
Unfortunately, there is no "easy" way to change the heater core. The entire dash board has to come out. then it's easy. Then you have to put the dash back in. Sorry :(
If its inside the cab at the firewall, its probably your heater core which is located on the passenger side under the dash. This repair is usually not much fun. If its leaking in the engine compartment near the firewall, its probably a heater hose that is failing. This is an easy repair
You do not have to remove the dash. You do however have to remove enough of the ductwork to allow access to the heater core. This is almost never an easy job and as I have not replaced one on a Navigator, I cannot tell you exactly what to remove. Just remove what is necessary to get to the core. This is why the Pros charge so much to replace a heater core. Just remember exactly how the parts cam off and how they go back on. Good Luck.
Easy to replace. Hard to get to.
