I'm not a mechanic / technician but after looking at fordparts.com I would
say ( YES ) The Motorcraft part number ( DGE-446 ) is the same for a 1997
or a 2010 Ford Explorer with the 4.0 liter SOHC , V6 engine ( I also checked
the 2006 Ford Mustang 4.0 liter SOHC and it had the same part number )
No , the 4.0 liter OHV and SOHC engines use the ( EDIS ) Electronic Distributorless Ignition System with ( 1 ) coil pack and the 5.0 liter V8 engine has ( 2 ) coil packs
.010 to .012"
No, there is no coil or Spark Plugs. Ignition takes place due to heating from compression of the fuel/air mixture. Some diesel engines have a "Glow Plug" for aid to starting in very cold weather.
whi ignition coil wont jabe electrisiti on mitsubichi pk up and distributor
On a 1997 Ford E-350 : ( No ) The 4.2 liter V6 and the 4.6 liter V8 engines have the Electronic Distributorless Ignition System ( EDIS ) The V6 has ( 1 coil pack with 6 towers ) The 4.6 V8 has ( 2 coil packs with 4 towers on each coil pack ) The 5.4 liter V8 and the 6.8 liter V10 have the Coil On Plug ( C.O.P.) ignition system with 8 or 10 individual coils
Firewall Drivers Side
Assuming this vehicle has the 4.3 V6 engine, the coil wire is connected to the passenger side rear of the distributor cap and the other end is connected to the ignition coil on the top passenger side of the engine.
All of the engines in a 2003 are distributorless. They are coil on plug ignition.
A 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee has one ignition coil.
both the 3100 and 3800 series engines have the ignition control module mounted under the coil packs. remove the coil packs and there it is.
Here is a photo of the ignition coil. It is in the engine compartment against the fire wall. if you find the distributor with 4 wires going to the spark plugs, follow the distributor center wire which plugs into the ignition coil. A new coil is about $150. Good Luck. Sorry, the photo didn't work. Search at "http://www.gprparts.com/OEMParts/vw.asp" for a 1997 Jetta igition coil to see the photo
On a 1997 Ford Expedition : The 4.6 has the Electronic Distributorless Ignition System ( EDIS ) It has ( 2 coil packs with four towers each for the spark plug wires ) ------------------------------------------------------------------------- The 5.4 has the Coil On Plug ( C.O.P. ) ignition system It has ( 8 ) individual coils
