The moon is a sphere.
It is illuminated in our night sky when the sun shines on it.
The sun always illuminates the same side of the moon.
The moon's apparent shape - the shape we see - the part which is illuminated ranges from a left-facing thin crescent to a full circle to a right-facing thin crescent.
This is because, due to the rotation of the earth, we are not always facing head-on to the side which is illuminated.
Waxing and waning are terms used to describe whether the moon is progressing towards a new (waning) or full (waxing) moon, not a particular shape. ___________________ The shapes are crescent, quarter, and gibbous, for the sliver, the half-moon and the "squashed circle" shape.
The semi-circle shape can be the 1st or 3rd quarter. Perhaps you would want to double check, but I believe that if the "flat" side of the shape is facing to the left, that is the 1st quarter; to the right - 3rd quarter.
A circle.
a moon shape!
Its in the shape of a circle!
Prediction does not depend upon assumptions, it is based on apparitions in divine form, a circle is always a moon, not a star , not a shape.
It will be a waning gibbous. The moon itself will remain the same shape it always has; spherical. However, from the Earth, it will resemble an oval-like shape; almost a half circle.
quarter Moon if its half of a sphere then its half moon
The general term for the visible lit part of the moon is "the phase of the moon." The visible lit portion can have a crescent shape, a gibbous shape or a "half-moon" (half circle) shape.
The earth reflectsAnswer:The Earth was found out to be spherical because it always casts a shadow (during eclipses of the Moon) that was either circular or portion of a circle (partial eclipse). There's only one solid shape that always appears to be circular, regardless of view point, and that's a sphere.I'm not sure about the Moon, but I assume that it was pretty much the same process - it always appears as a circle or part of a circle.
The moon orbits the earth almost a complete circle.
A circle?
It is a nearly perfect circle.
The dark circle (new moon)
its made up of rocks and the shape depends on what time on the month it is.........if it is a full moon its a full circle
A circle
The moon is roughly a sphere, just like the earth.During the moon's phases it may appear to be either a circle, crescent, half-circle, or other shape (called gibbous). This is caused by the shadow of the earth covering the moon by differing amounts at different times during the month, not by the moon actually changing shape.
