Personally I believe the rapture is truth. There are many views about the rapture, some saying there will be no rapture to others saying it will start before the Tribulation of Israel, some saying in will occur in the middle of the Tribulation and still others saying it will be a "post tribulation event. I believe it is taught in the New Testament, starting in John 14:1-4. No one know when it will begin, only the Lord in heaven. The Apostle Paul alludes to the rapture in several of his books, mainly Corinthians, and Thessalonians.

I Corinthians 15:51-54, "Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed___ in a moment, in the tinkling of an eye, at the last Trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruption must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: Death is swallowed up in victory."

Paul is telling us that the "rapture" has been a mystery up to this time. Not all people will be dead when the rapture occurs, some will be alive. But many, the ones who have died in Christ since His resurrection and are in the graves will be raised from the dead and given new bodies, bodies fit for God's kingdom in heaven. And the people alive in Christ will also be given new bodies as our old earthly bodies will not be allowed in heaven and would not last in heaven. At this time death for those in Christ has been done away with. The Christian will live forever more. This event is also the resurrection of the just. All righteous people who accepted Christ in the New Testament era who are in the graves will be resurrected. The unjust or unbelievers will be resurrected a thousand years later and be judged at the White Throne Judgment.

I Thessalonians 4:13, " But I do not want you to be ignorant brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus. For this we say to you, by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words."

Paul is telling us here not to worry about our family or friends who were Christian but have died. Because if we believe Jesus died and rose from the dead on the third day we can be assured that God will bring their souls from heaven and reunite them with their new bodies. They will be first, they will be resurrected from the grave. Then we (Christians) who are alive and remain on earth, we shall be caught up to join Jesus and the resurrected saints in the air. (Notice Jesus does not return to earth like at His Second Coming, but instead remains in the air or sky and gathers all His saint to Him and then returns to heaven and we will be with Him forever).

Most followers believe that the tenets and mythology of their religion are true. There is no proof that any of it exists. As "rapture" is a belief of only some Christians and so only a belief of the minority of the human race, it cannot be described as even the belief of the majority.

Some sects of Christianity believe it really is going to happen, others don't, and some religions that aren't Christian (Judaism for instance) do not believe in it.
