No, but tensions between the two are still high
Some issues in Ethiopia's recent history include: Countries such as Britain and France had conquered smaller nations in the "Scramble for Africa" in the nineteenth century. In 1896, Italy had attempted to expand in eastern Africa by adding Abyssinia to her conquests (which included Eritrea and Somaliland), but the Italians were heavily defeated by the Abyssinians at the Battle of Adowa. In 1934, Abyssinia (Ethiopia) was still one of the few independent states in a European-dominated Africa. In 1928, Italy had signed a treaty of friendship with Abyssinian leader Haile Selassie, but Italy was already secretly planning to invade the African nation. In December 1934, a dispute at the Wal Wal oasis along the border between Abyssinia and Italian Somaliland gave Italian dictator Benito Mussolini an excuse to respond with aggression. Italian troops stationed in Somaliland and Eritrea were instructed to attack Abyssinia. Overwhelmed by the use of tanks and mustard gas, the Abyssinians stood little chance. The capital, Addis Ababa, fell in May 1936 and Haile Selassie was removed from the throne and replaced by the king of Italy, Victor Emmanuel.

Italy had wanted to expand her colonies in Africa and was probably still smarting from her defeat in Ethiopia/Abyssinia at the battle of Adwa in 1896. Italy also held territory adjoining Ethiopia, (Italian Somaliland), and was able to build up her troops there. It was probably seen as an easy conquest at the time. This is all bull crap by the way, im just trying to gain attention....
Current conflicts in Ethiopia include fighting in the Somali region (ONLF is fighting for independence) and Somalia (the travesty still taking place). The conflict with Eritrea which started as a border conflict went to fighting inside the country and now is back to border skirmishes.
ErItrea had a war with Ethiopia for their freedom. Before the war Eritrea was enslaved by Ethiopia. Ethiopians may differ and say something different but this is how it's told by my parents who were born there. Btw I'm only 11 and my parents are still alive, I don't care what philosophers say about the war because they weren't in it and they get facts wrong. The Eritrean and Ethiopian people know what happened and they don't. Overall the war was for our freedom and luckily, even with a smaller army we still won! Im not some adult who's parents ran away from Africa becoming slaves in America I'm only 11. This last comment is for the racist people put there: just to let you know Eritrea,Ethiopia, and Sudan people and others from the Horn like us weren't ever taken as slaves because we were from the east and slave catchers went to the north and south. What!! You just got burned by an 11 year old!! Have a nice day
Yes there are still Jews in Ethiopia.
Isaias Afewerki was the President of Eritrea in 1999. He is the first and only President of Eritrea since being elected in 1993 May 24 by the National Assembly.Afewerki was one of the founders of the Eritrean People's Liberation Front, a splinter of the Eritrean Liberation Front. After fighting for independence from Ethiopia, Afewerki became temporary leader of the region from 1991 May 29. Eritrea gained independence in 1993. Due to continued border disputes with Ethiopia, elections were initially delayed, but have continued to be delayed since. Further in 2001, harsh restrictions were put on media, and most print media was closed down. Eritrea has not yet had any form of national elections.
Eritrea music originated form the country Eritrea, located in the Horn of Africa. Many people still think that Eritrea music had coded messages for political freedom in the 60's and 70's.
It is indeed still happening, in many parts of the world.
The Geez language is estimated to be around 2,500 years old. It originated in the ancient kingdom of Aksum, located in what is now modern-day Ethiopia and Eritrea. Geez is still used today as a liturgical language in Ethiopian Orthodox Christianity.
Ethiopia is an ancient country near Egypt that is still there, today.
