Not just one president owned a cat. Lincoln owned Tabby the first cat owned by a president, Theodore Roosevelt had two, Calvin Coolidge had three, some even had exotic cats, i.e. a tiger and lion cubs.
Surely no US president was actually named after a type of cat. I can not think of any cat breed that is the same as the name of a President, but I do not claim to know all the breeds of cats. .
