Some by counseling, some by medication and some by surgery. It all depends on the kind and severity. Some can be stabilized, even if a permanent cure cannot be effected.

They are behaviours which are so abnormal and deviant from 'normal' society that they cause the individual to be impaired from 'normal' functioning within that society. The reasons for the treatments are to reduce the abnormalities and allow the individual to function normally in society. Although it may not sound nice, the treatment of these abnormalities are designed to allow the person to live a 'normal' life, normal being defined by society itself, not the profession.
The reason why there is no cure is because technically there is no 100% cure for an abnormality, physical or psychological. Either something must be changed, strengthened or removed, but the possibility of ill-health still exist. Hence why treatments are not referred to as cures, as the cure of something is to remove the abnormality completely and to restore perfect function, whereas to treat to reduce the possibility or symptom of an abnormality to restore some, most and in some cases perfect function (although weakened and more susceptible.
