Best Answer

Most commercial soy sauce is NOT gluten-free due because it contains wheat.

Look at the ingredient label. Most brands will list "wheat" as an ingredient.

The brands that do not list wheat as an ingredient are gluten-free.
However, even soy sauce made with wheat can be gluten free; because the enzymes produced during the natural fermentation destroy the gluten. Soya.be tested some naturally brewed soy sauces and found no detectable levels of gluten. The lab report can be found http://www.soya.be/gluten-free-soy-sauce.php.

This is from wikipedia page on soy sauce:

Most varieties of soy sauce also contain wheat. Individuals with a wheat allergy, Celiac disease, or a gluten intolerance should avoid soy sauce that is made with wheat.[1] However, some naturally brewed soy sauces, made with wheat, may be tolerated by gluten intolerant individuals, because gluten are no longer detectable.

Of course there is,

It is a thick sauce, which is Light Red Brown with Golden Shine. It has a distinct and delicate flavor with β€œumami” taste (savory flavor). It is a healthy dipping sauce and works well with marinates. A tasty sauce that can be used in different dishes, it’s amazingly delicious!

My friend has celiac disease, so I bought this fantastic sauce for her, as she can’t have regular soy sauce. She liked it very much. It’s allergen-free and best for kids too. It’s a must condiment for gluten-free cooking.
