Is Shell Alvania Grease RL3 not suitable for DC motors?

Why not? AC motors are usually run at constant and DC motors at veriable speeds. Simply ac or dc motor type should not have any effect on bearings & grease. Bearing type, operating temperatures, speed, load, duty etc. determine the suitable type of grease and regreasing intervals. Most of the times motor manufacturers give the info on motor name plate if the motor bearings require regreasing. It is adviseable to always refer to motor or bearing manufacturer recommendations. Shell Alvania RL3 is suitable for medium size motors (with ball bearings) running at 40C ambient temperatures. Cheers, Syed

What to do if your filter is humming in your above ground pool?

Teach it the words! LOL. Filters don't normally hum. You may be talking about your pumps motor. If that is humming then either the bearings are bad or the start/run windings are going bad. Take it to a motor shop or buy a new motor.

What will cause noisy operation of a motor?

Noisy operation of a motor is usually caused by the motor's bearings. Use an instrument that can check the temperature of the bearings. If they are hotter than the surrounding temperature of the motor's frame then change them out for new ones. New bearings should quiet the motor.

How do you grease central air fan motor bearings?

If you remove the screws that mount the wire screen to the unit housing, you can flip it over with the fan and fan motor attached to it. Pull the fuse block first, of course. On all the units I've seen there is a small hole that you insert the grease tube nozzle into. Just squeeze it in, reattach the wire screen, replace the fuse black and you're in business.

What can be done about a ceiling fan that emits an oily smell?

Replace it. This could be the shellac on the windings of the motor you're smelling because its getting hot. If it is definitely running cool then its probably the bearings losing some grease which is getting on the windings.
