Only the Philippines, mimicking the U.S.

No other countries have any kind of national Pledge to the flag or otherwise - except Indonesia. China doesn't, Russia doesn't, North Korea doesn't, Iran doesn't. Why? Because even the most despotic regime thinks that would be going to far!

If two flags of different countries are displayed which pledge of allegiance is said first?

A pledge of allegiance would never be made to two different countries at the same time; any pledges that are made simultaneously would be made in the order in which they are required by several patterns, depending on who and what they are to. It doesn't matter how many flags are on display nor which ones they are.

Is there a connection between McCarthyism and the Pledge of Allegiance?

The "under God" clause was added to the Pledge of Allegiance during the McCarthy era, in the belief that no Communist would pledge or swear to God in any way, since they were understood to be atheists. Committed Communists actually had no problems reciting the Pledge of Allegiance or other oaths; part of their commitment was to do or say anything necessary to be trusted, where they worked or operated. The persons affected by the "under God" clause were essentially non-Communists, of beliefs that varied from the Judeo-Christian mainstream.

Is the pledge of allegiance illegal in public schools?

My wife and I are both public school teachers. And in the state of Michigan it not only isn't illegal, it is said every morning. The pledge of allegiance has not be made illegal in any public school in the US.However what has been made illegal is for the teacher, coach, principle, school board ect to require that every student must recite the Pledge...Due to the religious nature of the Pledge a student can decline to participate in reciting the pledge if it is against their religious beliefs or lack thereof and the student can not be punished for doing so..

How does the Pledge of Allegiance unite Americans?

It emphasizes common goals, heritage and national pride A pledge of allegiance in any country is a political ploy. The thing that unites the people of any country is their fear of the cultures of other country's being forced upon them. It is like saying how does being forced to recite the Lords prayer every morning before school make you more Christian.
