This is what I would do If I were you. Get a zip strip or a cable tie and then lie under the engine area of your car. Look for a brake line or another easy to get to area and zip strip the key to that area. In a pinch, you will have a spare incase you lock yourself out of the car. As the zip strip is made of plastic, do not place it too close to the engine block as it may melt.
