If it is a plastic overflow coolant reservoir most simply unscrew. If it has a cap like most radiators then it has to be pushed down before it is turned to get it to unlock.
yes i leave the lip on the lid on the tank because it will jump out \

check hoses coming from coolant tank by sqeezing may be worn
you open the gas tank lid, take off the cap and insert the gas pump..wtf
That's going to depend on the type of lid. My tank has a glass cover to it. In order to clean it. I simply take it off and scrape off any algae. After cleaning the algae, I wipe it down with a wash cloth WET WITH TANK WATER ONLY. Dry it with a dry washcloth and replace it.
Perhaps the coolant was overfilled. It will expand because of heat or pressure and the excess makes it way to the coolant refill tank. Make sure your coolant doesn't have oil in it. In a worst case scenario you could have a faulty head gasket or engine damage that allows engine oil to seep into the coolant. But if you don't see oil in the coolant, then just drain some off.
The first thing you should do is check the inside workings of the tank. Begin by lifting the lid off the tank (put it someplace safe so that you don't break it. Then check to see if the float mechanism is working correctly. Sometime cleaning the float mechanism will do the trick and the water will shut off at the correct time. If this does not work you may have to replace the apparatus inside of the tank.
The low coolant sensor is located in the side tank of the radiator.jd
The coolant level switch on a 95 Achieva has a sticking problem. If you tap the coolant tank near the sensor the light will go out
There is a sensor that is in the overflow bottle that may be bad causing the "low coolant light" to illuminate. The coolant level switch is located on the bottom side of the coolant tank. The switch contains a reed switch and a magnetic float. When the coolant level is normal, the float rests away from the reed switch, causing the switch to be open. When the coolant level decreases in the coolant recovery tank below a specified level, the float rests on the reed switch and the switch closes, illuminating the LOW COOLANT light. The coolant level switch is a part of the coolant tank. If the switch needs to be replaced, the coolant tank must be replaced.
No. When the engine is running coolant is heated and expands. Excess coolant then flows from the radiator to the expansion (overflow) tank. When the engine is shut down coolant cools and contracts drawing fluid back out of the tank to keep the radiator topped off.
when you open the hood you will see the coolant tank on your left hand side, (do not open it if the engine still Hot). on this vehicle the malfunction light will turn on even if the coolant level is a little bit low, once the engine is cold go ahead and open the reservoir tank and top it off with coolant (recommended) or regular water if is just a little bit low
