You should be able to remove the alternator bracket, on your 1995 Jetta, by removing the three retaining bolts. The bracket should easily come off.

The real trick is noticing that the replacement filter, although shaped exactly like the original, has the inlet and outlet reversed. Look for the fuel flow direction arrow on the side of the filter.
