Is there an access panel for getting at the fuel pump on a Mercury Sable - Ford Taurus?

Unfortunately no - the gas tank has to be dropped to get at the fuel pump.
NOTE: the biggest problem I had doing this on my 98 wagon was finding the 2 gas tank strap bolts were thoroughly RUSTED. Lots of patience, penetrating oil, etc...
