Campbell's and Progresso both sell MSG free soups.
I made bean soup with Honeybaked ham bone and bean soup mix I bought at their store ( Josies Beans) and got a migraine. I get migraines from MSG, so believe it was in one of the products.

All fast food restaurants use MSG. All chain restaurants use MSG as well. Most other restaurants have it because it is in the food they buy from restaurant supply companies. Restaurants today serve a lot of preprocessed food. The main ingredient in soup stocks used in restaurants is MSG.
You'll have to check individual cans, those with no msg are usually marked no msg. however unmarked cans may not have msg. Several websites list ingredient names that are synonymous with msg. If you don't know what a particular ingredient is look it up. Things like Autolysed yeast paste are almost pure msg. "Brewer's yeast" is autolysed yeast. (the yeast eats itself [autolysis] after using up available sugars producing among other things glutamic acid compounds.)

I can tell you this, I get severe headaches from eating jennie-o sun dried tomato turkey. That is the same symptom I experience when getting a dose of MSG.

Basic clear soup or Osumashi 1/4 cup dried shrimp 3 cups water 1 TBL soy sauce 1 Tsp salt 1/4 tsp MSG ( Ajinomoto) Place shrimp in cold water and boil over low heat for35-40 minuts. Strain. Bring broth to boil, add salt, soy sauce and MSG. Serves 5-6
Coffee does NOT have MSG.
