I don't have any "research" other than watching my spouse for 25 yrs. He is an overeater, but "never eats outside our home." Unfortuantely, because of his refusal to accept his own behavior, I have cut way back on the amount of food I cook. This hasn't helped. He is now faced with type II Diabetes and still will not acknowledge his away from home over eating pattern.
