Is there anything that can beat the hippo in a fight?

A pride of lions is possibly the only real threat when the Hippo is grazing on land, but this is rare. The Hippo is possibly the most feared animal on land in the animal kingdom and has no real natural predators. Even crocodiles that share the same waterway give them a wide berth as they are often killed by hippos. Also, Hippos will gave way to avoid a confrontation with a large bull elephant, and sometimes vice versa, but apart from a threat or bluff toward each other, no real fight issue has ever been documented. Elephants, Hippos and Rhinos have been known to cohabitate, on rare occassions, in the same areas without issue..

Here's my bets.

On dry land, if I were to choose between the three, one on one, I'd go for the Rhino over the the Elephant and Hippo coz it's extremely dumb and therefore doesn't know when it's beaten, and also because it has less chance of being injured due to its' hard armour like protection.

In the shallows, the Hippo and Elephant would be 50/50. Rhino Zero.

In slightly deeper water, the Hippo will win every time.

I would go with the elephant on dry land over the hippo or the rhino. As a matter of fact, the elephant is intolerant of the hippo on land and has been known to kill them. On the (photo) safaris I've been on, I've never seen the opposite.

the hippo because the hippo is bigger stronger and has a better attack and defense and if the hyena tried to kill it the hippo would rip its head off the hyena would bite and claw the hippo a few times since it is faster and smarter but the hippo would win noah davis wrote this
