These trucks are notorious for sticking carburetor linkage!!!!.Remove the air cleaner housing and lift off the carburetor and thorougly clean the carburtor linkage and choke use a toothbrush to scrub it if necessary.I use brake cleaner on the linkage and cover the top of the carburetor to keep this from getting in it,and let dry for a few minutes.Spray liquid wrench on all the moving linkage, and choke (the choke is plastic and metal and normally black in color going towards the throttle cable). This will prevent the high idle arm from sticking as it the problem to start with.I have to do mine twice a year normal maintenance.I will asume your truck is carburated with my answer.I have owned my truck for 23 years since new and this is just routine.
Hey Dee ann==Not simply idleing the engine. If you had an extra load on it to cause it to overheat this could cause it. GoodluckJoe
You might have a problem with the torque converter or the lock-up relay.if it misses that could cause it to die. if it has a carburetor the idleing speed could be set to low
bad plugs, bad spark plug wires, worn out engine no compression, bad timing. you name it.
It could either be a leaking vacuum line, EGR Valve or I believe its a idle position sensor on the throttle body. If you're looking for a vacuum leak, spray some WD-40 around the vacuum lines till the engine RPM increases. You'll know right away. If it is a vacuum leak it could also be where the intake manifold joins the engine. In either case it is not a good idea to drive it as it could ruin your engine.
You could try a catalytic converter
she could control anything that had to do with wisdom
Sounds like your catalytic converter is getting plugged. The Rough idleing could also be apart of the IAC (Idle Air Control valve) being gunked up. Check the cats first, then if it continues to idle rough, take the IAC out and clean it with throttle body cleaner.
the ECU is likely different as the 89 engine has several changes that increase the power from previous versions. see if you can have the idle adjusted, if not find an ECU from an 89
If a car engine stalls when turning, there could be a problem with the power steering pump. There could also be an issue with an emissions control device.
it could be anything, from the axles to an engine with a lack of oil.
You probably have a cracked EGR tube The Fiero Store has replacements Google them
Could be anything from an engine management problem to the transmission failing
