It really depends on what that lump is made of. If it is hard and painless most likely it is a calcium deposit and can be reduced or removed by "crushing" it. This will break up the deposit allowing the body to remove the excess. DO NOT do this yourself. Apart from the dangers of hitting yourself really hard in the head if it is not a calcium deposit you could make it worse or harm yourself. Check with your GP. He will be able to tell you what it is made of and why it is there. Insurance may even pay for its removal if surgery is required.

I've had one. It is either a sist or a calcium deposit, dont worry it can be removed either by surgerey or your family physician.

Most lumps can only be removed surgically. See your doctor about this.

Last week I had a lipoma (fatty tumor) removed from my forehead on the right side. I gotta tell you, this hurts tremendously. I mean really hurts. My bump started growing five years ago and really was bothering me, so I had it removed at Kaiser Hospital. The scar is minimal but, the pain is tremenous. My scalp burns, and my forehead is really uncomfortable. I also have been having pretty severe head aches. So, the point is, if you are willing to deal with the pain of the recovery for a week or two, then have the doctor remove it. It is outpatient surgery and is done using local anesthesia, so it is done in about a half of an hour.

How long does it take for a lump on the head to go away as this is on the forehead?

If a person has a lump on their forehead, they should see a doctor. This is especially true is the lump is not the result of an injury, but just suddenly appeared. If it is injury related, it should go away within a week. Going to the hospital will rule out a concussion.

Bony lump on forehead believed to be calcified bone How is this removed?

First of all, who is it that 'believes' this lump on your forehead is 'calcified bone'? If it was you or other persons who don't have a medical license, see a doctor. If your doctor believes the lump to be calcified bone, ask your doctor what should be done to remove it.

What kind of doctor should one see if they have a small lump on the left side of their forehead?

If you have a lump on your forehead, start the evaluation with your primary care provider. The PCP can do at least an initial history and physical, and determine if additional tests are required. This can save you time in directing you to the right specialist, if needed.

What about a lump on right side in back under hairline?

It can be anything from a simple contusion of the head you got from a night out drinking, all the way to something serious like a tumor. If it doesnt go away after week I would consider contacting a physician. Especially if it just recently appeared.
