I attended the University of Wales: Bangor and there was a racially mixed student body. Many students came from England and Wales, as you might expect, but there were also students from the Irish Republic and Northern Ireland, Scotland, USA, Canada and many other places. Bangor was particularly popular with Japanese and Greek students of accountancy and finance and there was a fairly large percentage of these students. In my time living there I never saw or heard of any racially motivated problems. Even the local population seemed to be friendly towards students.
