Best Answer

yes, it's known as space

It's not a perfect vacuum. There's still a lot of stuff out there, but compared to Earth's atmosphere, it's pretty darn close.

Why can we see light from the sunbut not hear the explosions from the sun?

Between the earth and the sun there is no air (its a vacuum). Sound cannot travel across a vacuum. Light can.

Does Energy from the Sun is transferred to Earth through convection?

No! Convection would require a medium and there is none such between the sun and the earth - just vacuum.

How does theral energy travel through the vacuum between the earth and the sun?

as electromagnetic radiation

How is solar energy from the Sun transferred to the Earth?

It is transferred by the energy of photons and heat radiation. Convection doesnt work as there is vacuum between sun and earth.

Why can we see the sun but not hear it?

Because noise can't travel through vacuum, and there's a lot of that between the Sun and the Earth.

If air is fluid why isn't convection responsible for transferring heat to earth from the sun?

Because there's a whole lot of vacuum and zero gravity between the Earth and the sun.

How can you be sure that heat from the Sun arrives by radiation?

Because between the Sun & the Earth is Vacuum & in this status just radiation can transmit heat energy.

Does the gravitational force extend through a vacuum?

Yes. The gravitational attraction between the sun and earth is what keeps the earth bound to the sun in orbital motion, even though there's 93,000,000 miles of total vacuum between them. Nothing is known that can 'shield' or stop gravitation from going through it.

An example of a good radiator?

One such example of radiation is the heat travelling from the sun to earth. The space between it is vacuum.

Does light require a medium to travel?

No. Light can travel in a vacuum. That's why we can receive light from sun even though there exists a vacuum in between Earth and sun.

What evidence suggest that heat transferred by radiation does not used a medium?

The space between the Earth and the Sun is essentially a vacuum, yet we get plenty of heat from the Sun.
