it depends on what type of food you get some guinea pig food contains a the right amount of vit c for a guinea pig and some food contains very small amounts and sometimes none but you still have to give your piggy fruits and veggies.
you can give your guinea pig bunny food you just have to add vitamin C drops into their water, but never feed a bunny guinea pig food!
No because rat food , guinea pig etc.It Doesn't supply enough Vitamin C for it because guinea pigs require a minimum of 10 mg of Vitamin C or 20 mg if pregnant
No pig food IS NOT good for guinea pigs. Guinea pigs have a very sensitive digestive system. Guinea pigs also require a different diet then regular pigs. A guinea pig is not part of the pig family. Guinea pigs need alot of vitamin c and vegetables. It is very important not to feed your Piggy any food that says it is for other animals. Make sure it says for guinea pigs specifically on the package. I have one guinea pig and he eats nothing but the best quality food. Guinea pigs mostly get there vitamin c from vegetables you feed them but they can get it from pellets that have vitamin c in them and is made just for them.
No,NEVER,EVER give a guinea pig hamster food.Hamster food contains nuts, which are fine for the hamster but will almost certainly choke your guinea pig. Also hamster food contains corn which is way too fattening for guinea pigs. And lastly a guinea pig needs a lot of vitamin C which guinea pig food has plenty of while hamster food doesn't have nearly enough, plus hamster food has too much protein for guinea pigs.
They need vitamin C. You can buy this in the form of a small pill or liquid drops to be added to the food or water. Most guinea pig food has vitamin C in it already.
a LOT. it needs more than you would expect. just give it more than you think is enough
Yes!! They needle vitamin C. And carrots are full of vitamin C.
guinea pig
Juvenile and adult guinea pigs eat the same food. There isn't puppy and adult food as for dogs. You should include guinea pig pellets, vegetables, timothy and don't forget vitamin C supplements.
Whatever you do resist the temptation to feed it alot of lettuce or any other fruits and vegetables. It will get severe diarrhea which can be fatal. There is no reason a domestic guinea pig would get scurvy. Stick with feeding it pellet food and give it lettuce once a week.
vitamin c is good for your guinea pig but I'm not sure about the syrup, I would leave it for now until someone can give you a definite answer.
If the guinea pig is getting an otherwise balanced diet rich in vitamin C and good quality hay, no harm will come.
