Who are the ministers of sacrament of matrimony?

The ministers of Matrimony are the man and woman themselves. They "marry" each other. The priest is just the Church's official witness, and he pronounces the nuptial blessing. This is why a couple can get married, with permission, before a protestant minister, or even with no witnesses or Church permission if they are stuck on a desert island and there is no one around.

What are synonyms of wedding?

Marriage, matrimony, nuptial mass ( Church use). slang: Tie the knot, lock couplers.

What are the 5 things used in church wedding?

Roman Catholic answer:The Sacrament of matrimony itself consists only in the mutual offer and acceptance of matrimonial rights. The nuptial blessing is the sacrament itself. So the only things that are required are two individuals, of the opposite sexes, who are free to marry, two witnesses, and the priest. I have a feeling that is not what you are asking for, however. If you can send me a note (to PiusX), I can answer better.

What is the symbols of matrimony?

I am guessing this question is about signs that the sacrament of matrimony has been given and received and not about symbols of matrimony in the catholic church. As in other non-catholic marriage ceremonies, there is still exchanging vows and rings, a minister of some kind, papers to sign (the legal stuff), lots of people, a white dress etc etc etc. Unless you are involved in the ceremony, be that as a witness or a member of the wedding party, its hard to find signs of the sacrament of matrimony. The Sacrament of Matrimony is different to other sacraments in that the priest doesn't administer the sacrament himself; the couple gives the sacrament to each other and the priest is the chief witness to this. The sacrament then is personal, and although there are symbols used within the ceremony (as listed above and yes many are used in a non-catholic ceremonies aswell), the sacrament itself is in the expression of love, how two people give themselves to another wholeheartedly, body, soul and mind in the presence of God and all gathered. Signs of the sacrament are definitely evident in words expressed, actions made, the flow of the ceremony, even expressions on the faces of the people in the Church. Not really a sign but one symbol widely used in a catholic ceremony is a Marriage or Unity candle - lit from family candles. The bride and groom light the marriage candle together from their family candles symbolising two families and two lives becoming one; sharing a new beginning together as one. Some diocese don't like these ceremonies to be within a nuptial mass, but most diocese do see the value in this symbolism for both the couple and witnesses to the ceremony.

Is civil wedding much better than church wedding?

Sorry Charlie- or Charlotte. the Catholic Church requires , as they deem Matrimony a Sacrament- all Nuptial ceremonies must be performed in a Church, hence Church wedding. This is one of many protocols that is, in this case almost literally etched in stone- the stone of the Church columns and foundations. :Look at the hymn- the Church is one foundation, for example.

What are different sacramentals?

the anointing in baptism, the prayers used in last anointing , the nuptial blessing given in marriage, the sign of the cross, holy water, the rosary, the way of the cross and benediction of the blessed Sacrament.

Who is the minister of this sacrament?

While the priest or deacon witness the matrimony, in the Western Church (i.e. Roman Catholics), the minister of the Sacrament of marriage is the couple themselves. They do so by their mutual consent. In the East however, due to the different development of the theology of matrimony, the presiding priest or bishop is the minister of the sacrament.
