Time is real. Time is an illusion. Time is a myth. Ready?

Time is real: while everyone's subjective sense of time is different, there is deffinitely a chronologic order in which things happen: We are born, get old, die. Never the other way around. Spring always comes after winter, October always comes before November. We may not be happy about it, but when our alarm clock goes off at 7 am, that's what time we have to get up to get to work on time. This is the agreed upon system we have implemented to allow us to organize ourselves better. We can set meetings and know when to plant new crops.

Time is an illusion: In the early 1900's Einstein proved that the speed of light was constant. In order for this to be true, both time and space have to be dynamic. They can expand and contract, so even though we see the clock tick: one second, one second, one second, the ticks of your clock and the ticks of my clock may actually be going at vastly different speeds depending on our velocities (the math gets real confusing here, so just take my word for it).

In addition: Scientists have now discovered what is called "Planck time", that is, the smallest unit of time which is equal to 1x10^-32 seconds. (that's .000000000000000000000000000000001 of a second). While this seems trivial, maybe even useless, what it tells us is that the universe "strobes". It blinks on and off. We perceive "our universe" because it blinks at the same frequency we do. However, it is entirely possible that there could be millions of univerese blinking on and off at slightly different frequencies all occupying the same space.

Time is a Myth: While we have agreed on general standards for how long a day, hour, minute and second are, and while we have agreed on the location of time zones and accepted the Gregorian calendar that says today is March 29, 2010 the simple fact of the matter is, its all made up. And if you live in America its even worse, 'cause we went ahead and made up daylight savings time too. Basically a committee sat down at one point hundreds of years ago and said "ok, time starts NOW!". But it doesn't really "come from anywhere" and many cultures reject the western concept of time and date. The Jews, for instance, put us somewhere in the year 5000, the Chinese have another calendar, and so on. Some cultures except 365 days in a year, some don't. Some have 12 months, some don't. Its just arbitrary.

In my opinion, the planck time of 1x10^-32 is the time it takes for every calculation for the next frame of the universe to take place. still, the universe goes at 1000000000000000000000000000000000 frames a second, so that's still fast

Are we really living reality or is it all an illusion?

We are really living reality, but this reality is an illusion. There is no β€˜or’, it is β€˜and’. What does it mean? You see a rainbow, and it is an illusion. You cannot ask whether it is a rainbow or an illusion. You see a mirage in a desert and it is an illusion. You see it, it exists, but its existence is an illusion. So is our life. Of course, we are living this life. There is no doubt, but our life itself is an illusion. Just like a dream. When we wake up in the morning, of course there was a dream, but the dream was an illusion. So also is this life. Although it looks very real today, at death, it will terminate to be an illusion. Therefore, we must realize how this life is nothing but an illusion.
