Don't be legalistic, though; give where God directs you to give, how God directs you to give. Tithing is a religious obligation. Giving to the needy is Charity. If you consider giving to the needy as tithing, then it's not charity anymore. I don't tithe anymore. I give to charities that research on children's diseases and how to prevent them.
