we have to be at the shop early in the morning to load the company truck then drive for 3 hours to the job. at the end of the week we drive the 3 hours back and unload the truck. Do they have to pay us for this time of travel?

Your employer is not required to do so unless you have an agreement with them do pay. You do have certain rights to deduct this mileage from your taxes if you meet certain requirements.
