Yes, quite a bit of companies and users use unix.
Not really a true statement; both Windows and UNIX have multi-tasking and multi-programming capabilities.
Unix can be used on a large number of mainframes, servers, and workstations. If you would like to use a certified UNIX system on commodity hardware, Solaris 10 can be downloaded free of charge for non-commercial use.
unix and linux systems are true multi user (root + others) but in windows admin and main user are same !
The true Unix source code is copyrighted; it doesn't exist anywhere specifically on the net. If you are interested in how something works in Unix you are better off looking at the Linux source code that accomplishes that task.
Traditionally, the UNIX command interface was the only way to communicate within a UNIX system. Today, that is not true, with the graphical interfaces that are available. However, the true power of what you can do within UNIX is still in the command line interface. The command line interface is not very intuitive, and uses commands that are abbreviated to the point of not necessarily being understandable. Also, system administration tasks in Unix have typically been harder to accomplish because of the amount of background knowledge necessary even to do simple things. UNIX was developed early on for programmers by programmers, and little thought was given to the end user; as a result, it had a reputation of being difficult to use until you took the time to understand the (admittedly) arcane command line interface.
It in UNIX the GUI is separate from the operating system itself. You can uninstall the GUI and still have a completely working UNIX system.
The future of UNIX is... linux. Seriously, UNIX is a dying animal. Linux overtook operating systems of all kinds years ago and is far superior. UNIX will still exist somewhat running older legacy systems but I can't imagine it ever becoming dominant again in the server market.
No that,s not true google still run by his owner Larry Page and Sergey Brin.
