Well, if you're playing in an orchestra playing the violin is a really hard thing to do because you have to think of about forty zillion things all at once...e.g. You have to think what note you are playing on what string, which finger you're playing the note with, what 'position' you are in, where your left elbow is in relation to the violin neck, where your finger-tips are on your bow and how much pressure you should be exerting with your right index finger, what dynamic you're playing at, what angle your bow has to be on the string, whether your right thumb is bent or straight, whether you're right little finger is on the bow, whether you're playing an up bow or a down bow and whether you're lifting and what bow speed you're going at. You have to watch the conductor watch the leader, watch your section leader, watch your desk partner, listen to everyone else, make sure you're in tune, what articulation you are doing...the list goes on and on. The violin is all difficult! However it is a very rewarding and beautiful instrument! The hardest thing to do while playing violin is to concentrate on your breathing instead of your music. i.e. try and breathe according to dynamics or phrases and think about it.
Perhaps one of the following?
1) Paganini's Caprice No. 1, 5, 9, or 24. (totally solid - years of serious practice needed)
2) Ernst - Grand Caprice on Erl-King
3) Bach - Chaconne from Partita No. 2 (not impossible, but loads of stamina needed)
4) Paganini Concerto D major (incredibly difficult cadenza)
5) Waxman - Carman Fantasy
6) Bazzini - La Ronde des Lutins
7) Saratsate - Zigeunerweisen (mostly not too hard, but I find one passage with pizzicato at the end impossible!)
8) Bruch - Scottish Fantasy
9) Walton - Violin Concerto No. 1
10) Tchaikovsky - Flight of the Bumblebee (very famous, fast song)
I don't really know but i play in a marching band so i should think that the Trombone is the hardest because you have to put the sliding peice in the exact right place wich must be extremely challenging!
Hope this helps!
- Kazamatsur1! = )
Well, it's all a matter of opinion. Each person is different, so you have to go with whatever instrument you think you would be best at.
By the way, Kazamatsur, the trombone is much easier with a trigger. I personally consider the trombone the easiest out of bassoon, Oboe and Flute (being the only three instruments I play, I couldn't tell you anything about the other instruments). Your arm begins to adapt to know exactly where to put the slide each time, so it's not all that difficult. With the trombone, when your playing the chromatic scale, you can play it fastest because you don't have to worry about finger trips with half-hole nonsense. :)

Most people agree string instruments, such as the violin, are the hardest to play, but you'll have to find out for yourself (:
Yes, the Violin is difficult in the begining. But, once you get use to all the positions, it's probably the best stringed instrument!! Have a go!!
No! The harp is very hard but I'm not sure it's the hardest.
Staying in tune
Oboe or violin. Oboe is definitely the hardest wind instrument and violin is definitely the hardest string instrument. I had a violin teacher from Russia and she said "In America the hardest instrument to play is the oboe. But in Russia the violin is the hardest instrument to play." I lean towards violin not just because I play it but if you think about it all you have to do with the oboe is learn the fingerings and the breath....(which does take a long time to get right). In violin you have to learn a lot of different fingerings and and they do not have keys you have to learn how to put your fingers on in the correct place. Violin also just has a lot of music written for it. (more than oboe). But it is a still a matter of opinion. I've played the Oboe for a year, and now the bassoon-both double reed instruments. I actually think bassoon is much harder, although they're both double reeds, bassoon is a much bigger instrument, and requries a lot of patience, and a lot of musical ability. I don't know about the violin though!
Violin for dummies is great. To master the violin can take a lifetime...just saying.
depending on the piece, it could be a violing movememt or a Violin Concerto. Both could be concidered pieces by violin.
All instruments are hard to learn at the start and all you do is practice to get better. But i would say that the hardest instrument to learn would be the oboe or bassoon (but this is at the start). Some people say the violin is the hardest instrument to learn but I disagree as the violin is relatively easy to play at the start compared to the bassoon or oboe however the violin gets very hard very fast and that makes it harder to play as you are always learning something new were as bassoon and oboe once you have mastered the fingerings its not to bad. But grand daddy of them all is the harp. to learn how to play this could take twice as long as any other instrument due to the numerous strings and positions. But wind instruments are generally harder to learn that string instruments as it will take longer for you to get your first sound out of it than a string instrument. But as I said at the start all you do is practice and the instrument will be easy to you. Well, I'd say that one of the hardest things that you need for almost every instrument is to be able to learn music. Personally, i think the clarinet is QUITE hard- wind instruments are the hardest. The piano is QUITE easy. But, it doesn't exactly matter which is hardest, learning any instrument is worthwhile. well i believe the flute is the hardest because its hard to figure out how to blow through it, even make a noise well i guess the trombones also a little confusing and has lots of buttons but flutes are way out there. The Bagpipes are the most difficult, also you cannot look at music while you play
Well it depends. In clarinet, you have to blow to get your musical notes. In violin, you have to just move your bow across a string. I would probably say a clarinet is harder. You have to blow and waste your breath!A second Opinion...Well, realistically I would say violin is harder because in clarinet the notes are all there for you. In violin you have to find the notes by ear and shift the position when the music says to. Plus, most violin players do the vibrato. You also have to hold the violin near the shoulder or on it. Clarinet you just have to hold it with hands which is much easier. The violin is also deemed the hardest instrument to play.I disagree. When you play the violin, all you have to do is move your hands. When you play clarinet you have to, controll embachure, cover the holes, and maintain good air. So clarinet is hands down harder.

Many piano players think that the piano melody "4'33" is the hardest piece to learn and master.

In my opinion the hardest sport to learn is ice hockey
depending on the piece, it could be a violing movememt or a Violin Concerto. Both could be concidered pieces by violin.
He taught himself how to play the violin.
The Ode to Joy, or Spring, are famous pieces with violin.
I've been learning violin for 7 years and my mum says it's one of the hardest instruments to play. If you want to learn it, don't let that stop you. It's useful to know how to because there are quite a few instrument with the treble clef like piano.
The same to how violists learn violin.
