Yoga, literally means to 'yoke' or 'join'. Yoga is that science which allows the student to become at one with the initial creative force from which we came. This is evolution.

Anything which allows a point of consciousness to return to its source is Yoga.

This journey through evolution must include mental advancement for it to be a complete science.

Yoga teaches man, (by man I naturally mean women too!) to expand his mental horizons from the limited constraints of selfishness into the firmanent of selfless expansion to become AT ONE WITH GOD.

So therefore, Yoga is not only nessessary to expand or' free the mind' but one cannot advance oneself mentally UNLESS yoga is PRACTICED.

Yes, yoga is necessary to transcend the mind, to free it permanently. But first we must understand the meaning of yoga. It is not some physical exercise or gymnastics, it is not even breathing techniques. True yoga means union. It comes from the word Yuj, it is being ever united with the Divine. The moment you are united with God, you are free from thought, from ego, from suffering. Your life becomes a life of bliss and joy. But for that, you must live like a yogi, the one who understands the meaning of yoga and is in constant yoga, in Divine union all the time. This is a state of eternal bliss and peace.
