I was only a child in the 60s but the ones I recall are: Dusty Springfield, Sandie Shaw, Cilla Black, Nina Simone, The Supremes, my dad loved Petula Clark and Shirley Bassey... Lulu, Helen Shapiro, were also good. Astrid Gilberto had a huge worldwide hit with Girl from Ipanema in about 1965 (?), so check that one out.
