In January of 1976, Industrial Skill Center (ISC) was closed due to financial backing. It's original location was 2810 West 19th Street, right next to St. Anthony Hospital, by the tracks, on the north side of Cermak Rd.
It was discovered later, around 1977, that it could actually be relocated a bit further south, in the same building where Washburn once stood.
Lo and behold, it was relocated and had a new address.
However, the principal didn't advise his staff to contact its' former students to come back and finish their studies and complete their education, so they could get their Diploma or Certificate Award.
Instead, the principal started out fresh and tried to get new students to enter this particular school. It was a huge failure, seeing that his actions have cost his students to become high school dropouts and got them lost in the system.
I was one of those victims and couldn't get back into high school.
I heard a rumor was going around that the principal of ISC, had made a successful transition to Washburn Trade School, I was fuming mad!
Again, the trade school system failed miserably and needed money desperately.
So, that caused Washburn to be shut down as well.
