I have heard elsewhere that the genius files that are in/with your library file can be deleted, which may fix this problem by forcing a regeneration of the Genius data.
It's simple... Just delet the 2 Genius files sitting next to your Library (Genius.itdb), relaunch and then watch ITunes 'gather information' forever, again ! That's an error from iTunes. Try reinstalling iTunes and Quicktime.
itunes error 13010 refers to a corrupt itunes library genius file -- to resolve it remove the "itunes library genius.itdb" from your itunes folder and relaunch iTunes
Removing the SC Info folder and rebooting solved my " unknown error occurred -50"

Not an answer.. Just whats going on! -------------------------- i just bought a ipod touch 8gb and when i connect it to itunes it gives me this iTunes could not connect to the iPod "iPod" because an unknown error occurred (0xE8000025). can anybody help me with this?

I had this error too. I store my music on an external hard drive. I renamed the external drive and then went to iTunes preferences and under the "advanced" tab, I reset my file path for saving and storing music. Problem fixed :)
