My opinion is that "her boyfriend" did not love her because when one loves someone, even though they can leave the person, if one truly loves someone, they can't stand being away from them for so long. For instance, I dumped my gf, and within a week I realized how stupid it was of me, and I've been trying to get her back for a good 3 months now. I love her. No phone calls or letters pretty much confirms he wants nothing to do with her, she needs to move on and find somebody else, and be careful. Never give up.
