It should not do that. Nor should you do that either. If it happens quickly it is probably something to do with the lid closing and going into standby/hibernation. If it happens slowly it is probably something to do with overheating.
Press the "Fn" button, and look for a button (it will be in blue and on on of the keys in small writing) it will look like this "zZ" press Fn and the button that has: zZ in blue, and the system will go into hibernation. it is different on all systems, so it is difficult to tell you what key to press.
