if the seal is really leaking, you will have to pull the transmission to replace it. if it's a standard, just pull the tranny, pry out old seal, and use something the same size as new seal to drive it in square. if automatic, then you have to take torque converter off the input shaft to replace seal. make sure when you replace converter to push in on it while rotating it.it has to be seated all the way in or you will bust the pump. usually 3 notches, maybe four.
Yes it's the same transmission.
It's on the passenger side of the transmission.
does a 70 front bumper fit a 71 cutlass front bumper
Yes. An IRS Type 1 transmission is the same across the Type 1 line.
If the leak is bad then no if its slow they will work as long as there is fluid in the system. Once the fluid is gone you will not be able to stop. Using the breaks will pump more fluid out of the system making it harder and harder to stop. Using the breaks can also make the leak rupture unexpectedly causing the breaks to fail causing serious injury or death to you your passengers or a third party.
yes
I don't have page 71 in front of me. Perhaps you could tell me one of the problems.
Not without changing more parts than you want to think about. The 1967 transmission was "swingaxle." The 1971 chassis was made for "independent rear suspension" transmissions. You can put anything from 1969 on in your 71, because 1969 was the first year of IRS.
The 86 2.8L automatic transmission will not bolt up to a 71 Chevy engine.
It WILL fit. However, the 1970 bumper has turn signals in it where the '71-'72 front bumpers do not.
It does not have a modulator valve. The intire transmission is controled by the ECM--computor. You need to take it to a transmission shop that you can trust.
The later Bugs were usually on the left front side under the fender.
