Lhasa's are known for runny eyes. I noticed mine had red eyes for awhile with lots of gunk. The vet recommended an over-the-counter eye moisturizer. I can't remember the name, but it's in the grocery store...next to the visine. It worked for years, but recently she started getting worse. Now we use a product called Optimmune. It's prescription only, but works well. It's not too expensive and lasts a long-time if you use it according to directions.

The Lhasa Apso was originally an indoor sentinel (guard) which alerted Buddhist Monks about intruders into their Tibetan monastery.
If the hair of a Lhasa is not long by 6 months, "but probably sooner" than you may want to double check that it is a full breed lhasa Apso and not a mix of another breed, for this may be true.
The lhasa apso got its name from its birth place, in Lhasa, Tibet. The full name means : "Bark lion sentinel dog" because they used to be gifts to the Dalie Lama to guard their temples.
