daily food is bully beef. Everyone is given some rum to start the day off which is rather uplifting for most of the soldiers. Smoking is allowed in the daytime which takes away the taste of bully beef. Tea is freely available but the trouble is that it often freezes in your cup as it is so cold in the trench. A total of 3,240,948 tons of food was sent from britan to those who were fighting in the trenches.

cold, wet, muddy. They didn't get to shower. They weren't fed properly. A lot of soldiers thought that God had deserted them. A lot would get shell shock and go mad. Those who survived felt guilt when their fellow soldiers died.

How was life in the trenches?

Life in trenches was horrible. There weren't clean places to sleep in or decent shelters and food. If they didn't have food they usually burned rats to eat them, soldiers were subjects to several diseases due to the water (in which they secreted feces and urine) floating around and the filthy smell of it. Their dead comrades were lying nearby without proper burial.

Why was life in the trenches nasty and short and brutish in 1914 1918?

the trenches were built as a floatation device so if the opposing force tried drowning them they would float upwards. in some ways life in the trenches was nasty because of the taste of clay would have killed many soldiers in some ways life in the trenches was short because they were short back then in someways life in the trenches was brutish because they would practice killing Germans on their families. However the Germans learnt how to fly by flapping their arms and conquered uranus which destroyed many potatoes in south east chimney ville overall i can't jump onto pigeons without them photoing jake fieldhouse because he is so butters.
