Delta are women of great intelligence and acedemia. Deltas are women of scholars hence the high acedemic requirements to join. It would be a great diservice to the organization to allow women to join who did not attend an instituion of higher learning. you've got to be kidding me.....

Why did delta sigma theta break away from alpha kappa alpha?
At the time, the sole chapter was the one at Howard University. The young women who comprised the chapter decided not to carry the legacy that had been passed to them, but instead planned drastic changes that would leave no trace of the sorority the founders had carefully and lovingly crafted just a few years prior. One of the founders who worked on the campus intervened and the young women of the chapter decided to leave and establish their own sorority, Delta Sigma Theta.
