The blower motor resistor is very easy to find, cheap (mine was under $20cdn from the dealer) and as easy for anyone who knows how to operate a screwdriver to replace.
Go to the passenger side of the cab with the door open and look up from the floor at the bottom of the dash. You should see a couple of wiring harnesses. The 5-wire harness you'll see directly below and in line with the glove box handle connects to the resistor. It is shielded by a plastic flange and it's about the size of a cigarette pack. Just unclip the harness from it and remove the 2 screws retaining the resistor, or vice versa, whichever is easiest for you. Pull out the resistor and swap for a new one. Connect the harness to the new resistor, check for correct blower speed function, and reinstall it, assuming it works properly. Done.
Diagram for location of blower motor resistor can be found herehttp://autorepair.about.com/library/images/bl441a-lib.htm
It is under the hood in the passenger side firewall.
For the 1989 Dodge Ram, the heater blower motor resistor can be found on the passenger's side, on the bottom of the heater box. It is beside the blower motor.
Under the dash, far passenger side.
replace the blower fan resistor and you`ll be okay
For a 1999 Dodge Dakota the Blower resistor is located in the firewall under the Cowl panel (Plastic panel under wipers). The wiper arms must be removed to remove the cowl panel. The resistor is located on the passengers side inside an access hole. My blower only works on High. I just removed my resistor and found that the connector was not plugged into the resistor. I finally found the plug under the dash. Does anyone have any idea on how to plug the connector back into the resistor without removing the complete instrument panel??
Right side under the dash.
Blower motor resistor assembly is located under dash board on passenger side.
Your truck has both. the resistor is between the switch & blower.thje resistor controls the blower speed
Under the dash below glove box. You will see the blower motor and it's to the left of it. You will see a wire harness going to it.
On a '95 Dakota I think it's on the passenger side, the resistor pack for the different speed settings is in the firewall on the passenger side. I had a blower that wasn't running so I temporarly tied all the resistor points all together so it would at least run on high only. Then I got a new resistor pack, very easy to replace.
most common problem is the blower resistor In the firewall on the passenger side of the truck is the blower motor speed resister coils, they burn out alot. I could not find one for my Dakota so I got one from a dodge caravan and I changed the wirring, that is the most likely problem
