Look inside the frame rail just behind the first Cat on the passanger side. There is an aluminum shield held on with 3 metric bolts requiring a 13 mm wrench for the rear but a socket and ratchet will work for the front 2. Remove the shield and it reveils a plastic shield over the front of the fuel filter. There are 2 metric nuts requiring a 10 mm socket to remove. Remove the 2 nuts and the plastic shield.

The fuel filter is now veiwable. Use a 3/8 fuel line tool to remove the fuel line going to the motor. This is the connection toward the driveshaft. Next undo the Ford connector coming from the tank. Do this by taking a small screw driver and undoing the red plastic on the bottom of the fitting. Once the bottom is loose and bent down toward the front of the vehicle, push both sides upward to release the line.

Remove the filter and bracket from under the vehicle and put on the bench. ( verify how the old filter is positioned in the bracket) Next remove the metal bracket from the old filter and install the new filter with the same oreintation. There is normally an arrow to indicte out or the end of the filter with the flange is the out connection.

Get back under the car, and push the out line ( toward drive shaft ) onto the new filter, it will snap on. Next insert the in line into the other side. Once it is pushed into the fitting, push the red piece down while holding the filter into the connector. You will fell and hear this snap into position as well. Push the bottom locking red piece up to secure. Tug gently on both ends to make sure they are on correctly.

Next turn on the ignition and make sure you have no leaks. If no leaks reassemble as you took it apart.

Took me about an hour, just make sure you have a 3/8 fuel line disammble tool before you start. It wont come apart without one.

I would guess the shop rate is probabaly about $75 to $100 to have this done.
