I just pad off my car in March of 2008 and now I need the title for a secured loan I'm looking to take but I can't seem to find the title (lost or stolen) and I never registered it to my name. What can I do? i bought a bike, the owner(previous) cant be located, and the title has not been registered in my name yet with the state. What do i do?
If has been there that long you may try filing for a lost title and have it put in your name. Go to title office in your county. Hope this helps.
No, not without a title. You say it is registered in your name. Without a title you have no way of proving that and cannot sell the car. Contact your local DMV and get a duplicate title. If it is indeed register in your name you will have no problem getting a new title.
Since your sister never registered the vehicle to her name, she will have to contact the previous owner and ask him/her to apply for a duplicate title at your local tax assessor/vehicle registration office. Information required will be the vehicle make and model, the VIN, and the previous owner in whose name the vehicle was last registered. Other info may be needed.
Do you have the title of the car in your name? Is there a loan on the car? You will have to register it if your name is on the title!
The person whose name the car is in needs to file for a lost title.
The title RD signifies a Registered Dietitian.
Every state would be different on this. Check with your local DOT.
They should be. The title is the bill of ownership and the registered owner should appear on the registration under the same name.
You cannot have the car registered if it is not in your name. You first must get the title transferred to your name.
Ummm... he needs to get it registered in his name.. then everything will be fine.. (title in his name)
Yes you can. You paid for it and never legally rode it, therefore you never registered it. Now you want to sell it and can, as long as you have the clear title.
If you had the car titled in your name and just lost the title you can go to the court house can tell them you lost the title and they will make you a new one. This will cost you around $10
