A loud thud noise in the rear brakes might be caused by stuck calipers or by brake drums that are out of round. You might also have uneven wear on the brake pads.
brakepads wear out

A Toyota RAV4 would make a loud noise while driving if a piece of hardware like the camshaft is damaged or something is caught in the drivetrain. This will result in noise and potentially costly repairs.
A loud noise of some kind, but what kind and from where?
no i do it all the time with cars whithout brakes. try it ill make this crazy loud sound
The loud noise is probably attributable to a bad exhaust system.
to be cool
my guess would be to have your brakes checked... or maybe you are dragging something...
