not so much as other things, for example, the friends a child makes are much more of an influence than the media. media only becomes a problem when they contradict themselves which can confuse children such as when the media themselves are critical of their role in shaping a child's thinking... otherwise, left alone children will develop their own opinions through the people and socio-economic area around them
