from what I see, no. Microsoft security essentials has scanned this. Microsoft will not lie to you. I have had this on my computer for a while for the time I had it, it worked very well, and I didn't notice any "virus like symptoms" on my computer. I personally would say it is safe, but if you start noticing wired things, get rid of it!

When this infection is installed on your computer it will display a fake Microsoft Security Essentials alert that states that it has detected an Unknown Win32/Trojan on your computer. It will then prompt you to scan your computer, which will start a fake scan of your computer. ThinkPoint will state that you need a heuristic program to fix the problems and it even offers to sell one for $99.90. Please don't purchase Think Point.
Microsoft Word does not automatically come with computers. So unless you have specifically bought it, it will not be on your computer. If you have, then you should be able start it through the Start menu, Programs and Microsoft Office.

What you do is you go to Start, then you search System Restore. Then you click on it and then pick an earlier date of when your computer was working, clicknon it and then it will restorw your computer. This is a safe thing to do. Then to clean it, you CAN USE Microsoft Security Essentials. Best computer cleaner ever!

Is this happening just after you start up Windows? If so, just wait a couple of minutes for the computer to set itself up properly and try starting it up again, you may find that firewall starts up automatically.
Your virus protection is listed in the installed programs list, and should also have an icon on the desktop for Windows, or an entry on the list generated by clicking the Start button at lower left. If no virus protection is installed, you may be prompted to start either Windows Defender or Microsoft Security Essentials (both are free for all Windows PCs). There is also anti-malware in the Action Center for Windows 7 and Windows 8.
When using Microsoft Windows XP, you simply go to your control panel ( found in the start menu ) and you go to the Security Center or Windows Firewall, and then you switch it off
