The Moon would be traveling in a straight line if not for the earths gravity holding it in orbit. All objects dent space. They are in a "gravity well" with other objects effected by it depending on their mass and distance. Since the Moons birth it has been moving away from the Earth.

How are falling apples and the moon orbit of the moon alike?

They are both falling as a constant acceleration towards the earth

How does gravity keep the moon in orbit earth?

The moon is falling, but since the Earth's gravitational pull is constantly acting on it, the moon keeps falling but it is moving towards the Earth so it move in an egg shaped motion.

What force causes the earth to orbit the sun?

the force to move the world entire 9 planets including the earth is called gravity learn science please. _____________________________________________ NOTHING "forces" the Earth to move in its orbit; it is a falling rock. The Earth falls freely STRAIGHT through space at a little over 67,000 miles per hour, and the Sun's gravity pulls the Earth in toward the Sun. Stable Orbits like this are a careful balance of inertia, which keeps the Moon going straight, and gravity, which pulls the Moon straight in. Together, they keep the Earth freely falling in an ellipse around the Sun.

What is the acceleration of freely falling body?

Near Earth, the acceleration (due to Earth's gravity) is approximately 9.8 meters/second2. In other places, for example at a greater distance from Earth, or on the Moon or on other planets, the acceleration due to gravity takes on other values.

What causes earth to have tides?

What is the results of the moon's shadow falling on earth?

a Lunar Eclipse

Do lunar phases have anything to do with earth shadow falling on the moon?

No.

Do phases of the moon have anything to do with Earth's shadow falling on the moon?

No, the phases of the moon are caused by the sun's light hitting the moon at different angles when viewed from Earth. The Earth's shadow is what causes a lunar eclipse.
