It should not be a REAL problem (just the same as if you had to remember some multiplication-factors, as you would have to do aswell for currencies). In fact all (even the United Kingdom) now use the SI (système international).

Distances are in kilometres (look at the factors to calculate with miles). Weight in kilogramms, speed in kilometres per hour, etc. The SI system just procures the main-units (7) from which all others can be derived. And of course there are subunits for SI-master-units. By the way... i thought most of all the nations on earth used the SI.
